new building
We are at an exciting stage as a church, having just moved into our second building. We always knew we were not going to be limited by or dictated to by the size of our building because we believe church is more than just bricks and mortar. Simply put, we need more space for all the people we want to help and the projects we want to initiate. So when we outgrew our first building in Leith we knew God had more in store for us. It is our firm belief that as we take this step of faith God will add to our number and continue to work powerfully in the lives of His people in this church.
August 31st marked the move of our Sunday morning services to a new, bigger building in the Gorgie area of Edinburgh. The building is an old 1930's cinema and we have been busy restoring it after its use as a bingo hall. The beautiful retro interior can seat between 750-900 people and, whilst we are are able to host services, the refurbishment of the building is far from finished. We aim to have a first class building ready to host a variety of activities throughout the week that will benefit the community. However, we are not there yet. We still need money and volunteers to help get the building to a standard we are happy with.
Many in church have already sacrificed and donated financially to secure the building, both through one off donations and standing orders. For this next step we need to push forward corporately and as individuals to give more financially so that our dreams can become a reality. However we do not want anyone to go into debt or give beyond their means and are offering financial advise to those who would like to give but are not sure how. If you could help us financially with this project and in turn, help the Gorgie community and the city as a whole, please contact at us to find out how to do that.
Equally, we need volunteer workers to carry out manual labour on site. If you have skills particularly as an electrician, joiner, plasterer or plumber we would love to hear from you. But don't worry, if you are not skilled in these areas we are still looking for extra hands on deck to help us get the building ready for use throughout the week. Contact the office if you'd like to get involved.
We greatly appreciate all those who are giving and thank God for you.
"...and everyone who was willing and whose heart moved him came and brought an offering to the LORD..." (Exodus 35:21)
PLEASE NOTE our evening services continue in Leith as normal, and our building on Casselbank Street remains the base for all pastoral and councelling services.
