if God can take care of the little things...
Beth Godfrey's story
The other day I went to a bike shop to run an errand. While I was there I looked around at the different bikes, wishing I could get one. The one I use is a hand-me-down from my mum, who is a lot shorter than me, and it is far too small. Remembering my financial situation, and my need for a deposit for a new flat I put those thoughts aside and started praying for the flat issue.
At work that day the girl I was going to live with, a good friend, confessed she really didn't feel a peace from God about us living together. I understood that if God wasn't in it, it wasn't right and there were no hard feelings. But I suddenly felt "Oh, Lord! What am I going to do now? I'm moving out this Saturday, with no long term plans and now no one to live with! What am I going to do?"
Cycling home after work I tried to conjure up some peace, feeling unsure of how it was all going to work out. At the lights a man pulled up beside me on his bike and said "Excuse me, is your bike too small for you?" "Erm, yeah" I replied. He continued, "My girlfriend has a bike too large for her do you want to swap?!"
Sometimes I think God is really funny! On the same day I'd had a fleeting thought about wanting a new bike God provided one through a complete stranger. The new bike was perfect, and much better than the one I had, and God just reminded me if He can take care of the little, not so important things, he will definitely look after the big stuff.
Our God is so good. He is in control. We just have to trust him!
