the importance of doing what God asks
Temison Atimomo's story
My testimony's goes like this...
Basically, I take a particular route from work at the top of Ferry Road past the Old Chain Pier at Granton Harbour that leads up Lower Granton Road where I live.
As I was walking past the Pier, the Lord heavily impressed it on my heart to walk in. At the time, I imagined this to be a call to prayer because I usually like secluded places like that. I then began to bring up all kinds of reasons in my heart for not going in.... "I'm tired Lord....its late and dark how safe is it?"...etc however, the need to go in was so strong I decided to obey. I went in the pier a short way but the Lord motioned for me to go to the very end. When I got there, there was a man sitting down. We started talking and during the conversation, he asked me a very direct question 'Are you the sign?' I felt this was very weird so I ignored the question.
During our conversation, I discovered the myriad of problems he was going through; his friend had taken his own life at the very spot 5 years ago, and he planned on doing the same, but had asked God for a sign. I was that sign.
My obedience to God has reached a new level because I can now see how real the consequences of disobedience are.
After speaking to the guy for a while, and explaining how that he shouldn't kill himself, I took him home, told him about the church and gave him my extra Bible. He was reluctant to give me his number so I gave him mine and prayed for him. I haven't heard from him since but I pray and believe I will.
