painful ligament injury healed

John Lawson

I was working in the Gorgie building on Monday 18th August, carrying a sheet of plasterboard with Mark Gatzke. I was at the back end and my left foot got wedged between some plywood on the floor. Mark turned a corner and I was stuck, my body turned but my leg remained wedged, I fell over backwards and my knee twisted as I fell. I felt a lot of pain in my knee but shook it off and carried on. The following day I woke up in severe pain. My knee was really sore at the joint on the inside. I could bear weight on it but if I twisted or moved my knee sideways it felt like I was being stabbed in the joint. I could not work on Tuesday and was limping quite bad. The pain was really intense and I decided to visit the doctors. I made an appointment for the following day (Wednesday), my appointment was at 4.45pm so I decided to work in the Gorgie building until then. I was still in a lot of pain and only took on light duties. I left early that day to go to the Doctor, that afternoon the Doctor examined my knee and diagnosed a problem with my cruciate ligament.

(A torn ACL is an injury or tear to the anterior cruciate ligament. The ACL is one of the four main stabilising ligaments of the knee, the others being the Posterior Cruciate Ligament (PCL), Medial Collateral Ligament (MCL) and Lateral Collateral Ligament (LCL). The ACL attaches to the knee end of the Femur (thigh bone), at the back of the joint and passes down through the knee joint to the front of the flat upper surface of the Tibia (shin bone)).

The Doctor advised rest and a course of intensive physiotherapy coupled with a knee brace and painkillers. She also explained that if the treatment fails I may require an operation. I woke on Friday and once again I was in a lot of pain, however I had agreed to drive a van for church that day picking up all sorts of stuff from around the city and delivering it to the Gorgie building. I was working with Stephen and Ashleigh, and Keiran. They saw how much pain I was in and constantly told me to rest and lay off the heavy work, I was such a stubborn fool but those guys really looked after me. I managed to get through the day but had not picked up my prescription yet. I was in a lot of pain and by about 6pm we were dropping off yet another delivery to Gorgie when Peter Anderson noticed I was limping quite badly and in pain. I told him what had happened and what the Doctor had said. Well, He simply stopped what he was doing, knelt down and layed his hands on my knee, He prayed for healing and restoration in the precious name of Jesus Christ. I felt a kind of bubbling in my knee and Peter asked me to see how it felt, I had an immediate relief of pain and was able to bend my leg, however when I twisted my body I felt a sharp pain, I let out a cry and Pete said hold still, let me do it again! Once again he prayed and layed hands on my knee. This time when he asked me to see how it was I felt NO PAIN, nothing!! I was able to twist and bend like there was never a problem. It was amazing!

I carried on working and that night we finished about Midnight. I got through the night with no problems. The next morning I woke up pain free and even went dancing that night with some friends. I have had no problem with my knee since then and I called the Doctor to cancel my Physio. God is amazing and truly heals today, thank you Peter for your faith and Thank you Lord Jesus for working through Peter. AMEN
