cell groups
Part of our vision here at Destiny is to grow big and small both at the same time. We want our main meetings and influence across the city to grow big because Jesus calls us to reach out to all people everywhere (Matthew 28:18-20). We also want to grow small, because the individual matters. Cell groups provide a forum for everyone in the Church to connect with others in a small group setting. Cells are places that enable people to meet, pray, learn and break bread together (Acts 2:42).In the Bible we see that the early Church followed this same pattern of big meetings and small meetings (see Acts 2:46 and Acts 20:20).
Where does the phrase cell group come from? Well it is nothing to do with prison accommodation, American mobile phones or terrorism! We, together, as a group of Christians, the church, make up the body of Christ. We are his hands and feet on the earth. A body is made up of millions of cells, each integral to it functioning as a whole. Cell groups are smaller parts of the church that meet together and get strengthened so that the whole body benefits.
